We offer a variety of programs for different ages.
Over the years, perhaps a thousand or more kids have learned to skate with the Swansea Hockey Association. More than a few parents have also learned to skate at the same time.
We run a loosely organized instructional program led by volunteers. The children learn, with their parents' assistance, to feel comfortable moving around on the ice. This program runs on Saturday mornings at 11:00am only.
The Learn to Skate program is for ages 3-6, and requires skates, kneepads, and a helmet with face mask which must be CSA approved. Swansea Hockey provides a jersey. On-ice Parent volunteers are encouraged. All on-ice parent volunteers must wear an approved hockey helmet.
This program is a natural progression from our Learn To Skate program. Players aged 5-6 are introduced to hockey and skating drill under the guidance of parent volunteers. Basic skating skills are required for this program.
Typically, the hour long sessions end with an informal game or two.
This program will run on Saturday mornings at 12:00noon or 1:00pm. If you register early, you can even request a specific session and we will do our best to help you out.

For players age 7 to 17, we offer a house league hockey program with one or two games a week culminating with playoffs in late February or early March before the ice melts.
For our younger house league players in the Novice and Minor Atom divisions, we play 3 minute shifts where play stops during the shift changes. For all other divisions, shift changes can occur at any time.

Registration for the Just For Fun Tournament must be done at the time of initial house league registration. This is to ensure that our house league players are guaranteed a spot in our tournament as we do fill up fast. The cost for both is $170.00.
As of December 5, JFF registration can be done separately and will be open to all other kids that are interested. They don't have to be an accomplished player to participate. They just have to want to have fun. The fee will be $50.00
Every year, the Swansea Hockey Association holds a "Just For Fun" Tournament over the December holidays. It's a chance for 7 to 13 year olds to play during the holidays. The Tournament will involve 6 games between 10am and 6pm over the three days.
Until December 5, registration for the tournament is only open to Swansea house league players and must be done at the time of initial registration. The tournament format is pretty simple: 2 divisions according to age and ability; 4 teams per division; no more than 2 goals per player in a game -- any more and the other team gets a penalty shot; all penalties are penalty shots with a chase; we provide the jerseys; the players provide the excitement!
Team listings and game schedules will be posted at the Club House snack bar at 9:00 a.m. on the first day of the tournament. Please show up with full gear and check the schedule between 9 and 9:30. You may be on the ice for the first game at 10:00am.
